GM Defense Supplies Next-Generation Suburban Shield Armored Vehicles To Qatar Armed Forces
GM Defense is supplying the Qatar Armed Forces and Special Forces Command with advanced Suburban Shield armored vehicles. These vehicles are intended for secure diplomatic transport and VIP protection. The Suburban Shield is built on General Motors' full-size pickup and SUV platform, incorporating a high percentage of commercial components such as the body, exterior, propulsion system, interior, and brakes.
The Suburban Shield features a unique body-on-frame chassis and suspension system. This design supports increased weight and performance demands. Digital engineering and GM's global quality management system enhance efficiency during development while ensuring top-tier quality and performance.

The integration of protective armor occurs during the initial design and manufacturing stages, unlike previous methods that involved aftermarket modifications. This approach ensures safety and reliability while meeting GM's strict commercial standards.

The Suburban Shield provides a unique solution that surpasses older models.
Suburban Shield includes independent armoring certification with various options to meet customer needs. GM Defense also supplies customized versions to the U.S. Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service for its Heavy-Duty armored SUV program.
The company has recently completed some initial production vehicles for this law enforcement and security division. These advancements highlight GM Defense's commitment to delivering sophisticated armored solutions globally.
