JLR Fires Designer Of Controversial Jaguar Type 00: Future Redesign Shake-Up On The Way?
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has dismissed long-time Chief Creative Officer Gerry McGovern, according to a new report by Autocar India. The move ends a 21-year tenure for Gerry McGovern, who shaped much of JLR's recent design language and comes shortly after P.B. Balaji took over as CEO, marking a broader strategic and creative reset at the British automaker.
McGovern was reportedly asked to leave with immediate effect. Autocar India reports that McGovern was "escorted out of the office". However, JLR has not officially commented on the matter.

More recently, McGovern led the controversial rebrand of Jaguar, culminating in the unveiling of the radical all-electric Type 00 concept in late 2024. McGovern's departure closely follows the appointment of P.B. Balaji as JLR CEO on 17 November 2025. Balaji, previously CFO at JLR's parent company, Tata Motors. With McGovern gone, short-term projects and long-term design plans may face review.
