Genesis Magma Racing Showcases GMR-001 Hypercar At 2025 Le Mans Event
Genesis Magma Racing is set to make its mark at the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans, both on the track and in the paddock. This event is a significant milestone in their Trajectory program, preparing for their entry into the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar. The full-scale model of this car will be displayed for the first time in Europe at the Manufacturer Village inside Circuit de la Sarthe.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans serves as a crucial part of Genesis Magma Racing's preparation year. Team members and drivers Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert will participate alongside André Lotterer in the #18 IDEC Sport-run car, competing in the LMP2 class. This experience is vital for their development as they gear up for future challenges.
The GMR-001 Hypercar model, first unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, will be showcased at Le Mans. This display offers fans and media a chance to explore Genesis' motorsport design. The booth will also feature a Brand Wall, detailing Genesis' journey over ten years through video and text, highlighting its evolution up to its racing debut in 2026.
Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul emphasised the importance of this event: "It is a chance for our team members in our Trajectory program to feel the atmosphere and excitement unique to Le Mans to be ready to perform in 2026." This opportunity allows them to understand what it takes to succeed in such a competitive environment.
Chadwick and Jaubert have already shown promise by winning the LMP2 class at two European Le Mans Series rounds. However, Le Mans presents new challenges without championship points pressure. Abiteboul stated, "In their first starts in the race, the objective is for Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert to gain valuable experience without the pressure of fighting for championship points."
The week at Le Mans will also include an announcement from Genesis Magma Racing about developments with the GMR-001 Hypercar and team-building updates. Fans can look forward to exclusive merchandise created specifically for this event, reflecting Genesis' design philosophy.
