Genesis Magma GT Concept Previews Future Mid-Engine Halo Car
The Genesis Magma GT Concept marks a bold step for Genesis, offering the clearest glimpse yet into the brand's performance future. Unveiled in France, the two-door super-sports Genesis Magma GT concept features a mid-rear engine layout, dramatic proportions and a design that signals a halo car aimed at the GT class and above.
Genesis has confirmed that the concept is more than a styling exercise: the model will serve as the foundation for its Magma high-performance sub-brand and is aligned with the company's declared intention to enter GT racing. The car is described as an embodiment of "Effortless Performance" and a symbol of its motorsport ambition.

Visually, the Magma GT Concept presents a low-set front, elongated roofline and wide muscular rear fenders that emphasise stability and aerodynamics. The front incorporates the brand's signature twin-blade headlamps, integrated canards and a full-width lower air inlet. At the rear, a twin-bar LED light-bar spans flared fender extensions, all underlying a highly sculpted shape.

The bodywork features butterfly doors, flush-fitting handles and a prominent roof-mounted intake that feeds the engine compartment concealed beneath a body-coloured deck. Genesis designers say each surface is elaborated to optimise airflow while maintaining its "Athletic Elegance" design philosophy, and the proportions reflect classic race car cues.
Powertrain specifics remain under wraps, but Genesis suggests internal-combustion V8 rather than pure electric, given its GT racing objectives and current motorsport regulations. The brand is exploring hybrid possibilities or petrol-engine formats to marry performance with endurance capability for track and road use.

While no production date has been announced, Genesis says the Magma GT Concept is slated to mature into a road-going halo car by the end of the decade. The vehicle will stand at the apex of the Magma sub-brand and minimise compromise on dynamics, aerodynamics and driver involvement.
Underlining its racing intent, Genesis states a derivative of the Magma GT will compete in the GT category of sports car racing. Genesis is already active with its GMR-001 programme in endurance racing and views the eponymous halo model as the link between its road and track ambitions.
The Genesis Magma GT Concept sets the tone for the brand's next decade of performance vehicles. Positioned as the top of a performance ladder that starts with models like the GV60 Magma, the concept underscores a strategy pivot from luxury-only to performance-luxury, with racing-derived credibility at its core.
