Genesis Donates $8 Million To Support California Wildfire Relief Through California Rises Initiative

Genesis has committed $8 million in vehicles and cash to aid California wildfire relief. This initiative, named California Rises, was launched at the 2025 Genesis Invitational held at Torrey Pines Golf Course. The event aims to support communities affected by the wildfires through donations to various charitable organisations.

The tournament, originally set for The Riviera Country Club, was moved to San Diego due to the fires. Genesis, TGR Live, and the PGA TOUR are collaborating to highlight stories of resilience and recovery. "We all want to help after the devastating wildfires," stated José Muñoz, Genesis' president and CEO.

California Rises will benefit four charities: the American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, California Fire Foundation, and Genesis Inspiration Foundation. These groups have been pivotal in responding to the wildfires and will continue their efforts in rebuilding affected areas.

The Genesis Inspiration Foundation focuses on arts education for schools impacted by the fires. Additionally, Genesis is donating 100 vehicles used during the tournament week to nonprofits like the Salvation Army and Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.

The Genesis Invitational features several initiatives supporting California Rises. During tournament play from February 13-16, each birdie or eagle will result in a donation of $300 to California Rises. A hole-in-one will contribute $10,000.

All ticket sales proceeds will go towards the initiative. Attendees can also purchase merchandise with all profits directed to charity. The event includes opportunities for fans to thank first responders through Postcards from the Tee.

Highlighting First Responders

The tournament will honour first responders and those affected by the fires. They will receive special access and recognition throughout the week. Their stories will be shared during live broadcasts on GOLF Channel, CBS, and ESPN+.

A new content series called Chippin’ In will debut during this week. It features PGA TOUR players Max Homa and Collin Morikawa raising funds for the California Fire Foundation.

Genesis' Commitment

This initiative follows previous efforts by Genesis in response to wildfires earlier this year. The brand's Southern California partners have contributed $150,000 so far. Overall donations from Genesis exceed $8 million for wildfire relief.

The relocation of The Genesis Invitational was supported by Farmers Insurance®, Mayor Todd Gloria, San Diego City officials, and others who helped facilitate the move to Torrey Pines.

The PGA TOUR commissioner Jay Monahan praised these efforts: "The game of golf has always played a role in bringing people together for a common cause."

This year's tournament poster by artist Jonas Never features a unique design symbolising support for California Rises rather than its usual golf theme.

The Genesis Invitational continues its legacy as one of golf's historic events while contributing positively to communities through initiatives like California Rises.
