Nate Chen Claims First Victory At Formula DRIFT PROSPEC Championship Round 3 In St Louis

Nate Chen secured his first victory in the Formula DRIFT Link ECU PROSPEC Championship at Round 3, held at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, IL. This win has created a three-way tie in the championship standings as the competition heads into its final round. Chen's triumph came after an intense battle, marking a significant moment in his drifting career.

In a repeat of the previous round in New Jersey, Nate Chen, Cole Richards, and Dmitriy Brutskiy once again stood on the podium. However, this time, Chen emerged victorious. Richards faced difficulties when his Toyota GR86 went airborne after dropping a tire into the dirt during the final run. Unable to change the rear tire due to it being debeaded, Richards settled for second place.

The championship race is now extremely close with all three top drivers tied at 100 points each. The final round promises to be thrilling as Cody Buchanan also remains in contention with 80 points. If Buchanan wins and others falter, he could still claim the title. The upcoming event will take place from August 28-30 at Utah Motorsports Campus.

Chen's recent victory marks only his second podium finish since joining PROSPEC in 2021. He advanced to the final by defeating Brutskiy in the semi-finals. Brutskiy, who is aiming to become the only three-time champion in series history, is also competing in the FD PRO Championship this year.

Cody Buchanan faced setbacks when damage from his Top 8 battle against Jerry Johnson forced him to retire before facing Richards in the semi-final. Despite using a Competition Time Out, his team couldn't repair the steering rack in time. Meanwhile, Jerry Johnson reached fifth place on the night and remains sixth overall in the Rookie of the Year standings.

All teams participating in the Link ECU PROSPEC Championship are required to use Link engine management systems and GT Radial tires. This ensures consistency across vehicles while testing driver skill and vehicle durability under competitive conditions.
