Ford U.S. Retail Sales Increase By 6% In 2024, Outpacing Industry Growth With Trucks And Electrified Vehicles

Ford Motor Company reported a 17% increase in U.S. retail sales during the fourth quarter of 2024, contributing to a 6% rise for the entire year. This growth rate is twice that of the estimated overall retail industry. Ford's electrified vehicle sales reached a record 285,291 units, marking a 38% increase and surpassing GM and Stellantis in this segment.

Ford's strategy of offering diverse powertrains has been pivotal in its success. The F-Series exemplifies this approach with options including gas, diesel, hybrid, and electric models. In December 2024, all these versions experienced year-over-year sales growth. The F-Series maintained its position as America's best-selling truck for the 48th consecutive year with a 21% increase in Q4 sales.

In 2024, Ford's electrified vehicles set new records with significant sales increases across various models. The Mustang Mach-E saw a 27% rise with 51,745 units sold, while the F-150 Lightning achieved a 39% increase with 33,510 units sold. E-Transit sales also surged by 64%, reaching 12,610 units.

Ford's commercial vehicle segment also performed well. Super Duty pickups saw a Q4 gain of 30%, while Transit vans dominated their segment with an annual total of 152,738 vans sold—an increase of 18%. Ford maintained its leadership in commercial vehicle sales with a market share growth to 41.2%.

Lincoln's Impressive Growth

Lincoln achieved its best annual retail sales results since 2007 with a total of 104,823 vehicles sold—a rise of 28%. The Nautilus was Lincoln’s top seller with Q4 sales up by 88%. For the year, Nautilus sales increased by half to reach 36,544 units.

The Aviator also contributed significantly to Lincoln’s success with Q4 sales rising by 32%. Annual Aviator sales totaled at an impressive figure of over twenty-five thousand SUVs—up by more than sixty percent compared to last year.

Technological Advancements and Future Plans

The Ford Pro Intelligence software platform saw subscriptions grow by about one-quarter over the previous year. BlueCruise technology usage expanded significantly as well; customers drove over three hundred million hands-free highway miles using this feature across Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

Looking ahead to product launches in early next year such as new Expedition Navigator Bronco models Ford aims to maintain fresh offerings for customers dealers alike despite anticipated supply challenges during plant changeovers.

Ford continues to lead in hybrid trucks holding an estimated seventy-six percent market share while ranking second among U.S electric vehicle brands reflecting strong demand for both traditional innovative powertrain options offered through company’s Freedom Choice strategy.
