5 Biggest Car Launches In 2025: Harrier EV, Tesla Model Y & Tata Sierra’s Legendary Comeback
The year 2025 has been remarkable for the auto industry, with several significant launches over the past 11 months. Among the biggest launches are the long-awaited entry of American EV maker Tesla, the arrival of Vietnamese EV brand VinFast in India, and the amazing comeback of a legendary SUV - the Tata Sierra.

5. Vinfast Enters India
The Vietnamese car brand, VinFast, has entered the indian market with its VinFast VF 6 and VinFast VF7 electric SUV cars. These cars will be manufactured and assembled locally in India at its facility near Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
The VinFast VF6 is a 5-seater EV SUV, priced at 16.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is equipped with a 59.6 kWh battery pack, offering a maximum range of 468 km. The VF 7 is a more sporty electric SUV priced at 20.89 lakhs (ex-showroom). It comes with both a 59.6 kWh battery pack and a 70.8 kWh battery pack, offering a maximum range of 532 Km.
4. Hyundai Creta EV Launch
India's best-selling Compact SUV, the Hyundai Creta, was electrified this year. It was launched in early 2025 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo event. The Creta EV was offered in two battery options: 42 kWh and a long-range 51.4 kWh. The price of the electric SUV starts at 18.02 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The smaller battery pack offers a maximum range of 420 km, and the larger battery pack delivers a range of around 510 km. The car also features dual screen setups, ventilated seats, Level 2 ADAS, all-wheel Disc brakes, shift-by-wire, and an 8 Speaker Bose premium audio system.
3. Tata Harrier EV- Impressive
Tata Motors launched its Harrier EV in 2025 with prices starting at 21.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). It even created a huge buzz in the EV market with its Elephant Rock challenge and Beas River crossing challenge, displaying its impressive off-road capabilities. It comes with two battery packs: 65 kWh and 75 kWh, and two Drivetrain options: RWD and AWD.
It delivers a maximum power of 238 PS and the highest torque of 504 Nm. The Harrier EV offers a maximum range of up to 627 km (real-world range of up to 504 km). Additionally, it comes with Level 2 ADAS, a Lifetime battery warranty, Ultra Glide suspension, six terrain modes, a 540-degree surround view and a panoramic sunroof.
2. Tesla Model Y's arrival
Tesla, one of the world's biggest EV brands, officially entered the Indian market in 2025. The American EV car maker launched its Model Y in India at a starting price of 59.89 lakhs (ex-showroom). This one is an electric sedan car that offers a maximum range of up to 661 km.
Additionally, it features fully autonomous driving capability, fast charging, a 15.4-inch centre touch screen display, an 8-inch rear display, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The car comes with a basic 4-year or 80,000km warranty.
1. Tata Sierra SUV- Comeback of a Legend
The biggest car launch of 2025 was the Tata Sierra. It also marks the comeback of a legendary SUV. Priced at 11.49 lakhs (ex-showroom), the iconic car features modern design elements, infotainment features, safety and plush interiors. It offers three powertrains: 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L Turbo Petrol and a 1.5L Diesel engine.
The new Sierra SUV brings a nostalgic feel with its design featuring a signature glasshouse near the B-pillar, a Boxy design, and a high rear profile. Additionally, it features a triple-screen setup, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a thigh support extender, and Boss mode for rear passengers.
