On Saturday, August 3, at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, Jimmy Llibre achieved a significant milestone by winning his first Porsche Carrera Cup North America race in the ExxonMobil Pro class. Llibre made an impressive move from third to first in the opening lap and maintained his lead to finish over 1.5 seconds ahead of his competitors. "I feel a lot of emotions," said Llibre. "I'm really proud to represent my country, my teammates and ACI Motorsports."
Tyler Maxson's persistence paid off on Sunday as he clinched his first victory in the series at Road America. The 20-year-old rookie had been close to winning in previous rounds but finally succeeded driving for Topp Racing. Maxson started from pole position and converted it into a win in Race 2, becoming the sixth different winner this season.
JP Martinez continued his dominance in the Solairus Aviation Pro-Am class by winning both races over the weekend. On Saturday, he started second but quickly took the lead within five minutes of the race beginning. "I couldn't ask for a better weekend," Martinez expressed after securing two first-place finishes.
The championship race is heating up with Ryan Yardley closing in on leader Riley Dickinson in the ExxonMobil Pro class standings. Yardley's consistent podium finishes at Road America have reduced Dickinson's lead to just two points with three events remaining this season.
In the Solairus Masters class, Scott Blind reclaimed his top spot by winning Sunday's race after missing out on first place in recent rounds. "We had a tough start to the week," said Blind, who praised his team for providing him with a competitive car that allowed him to fight throughout the race.
