Ferrari Challenge UK Trofeo Pirelli Sees Four Unique Winners At Navarra Circuit

In Navarra, Spain, the 2025 Ferrari Challenge UK Trofeo Pirelli race series began with thrilling action at the Navarra Circuit. Around 2,000 fans witnessed the event, which featured four different winners across the Trofeo Pirelli and Coppa Shell classes. Gilbert Yates, Paul Simmerson, Mike Dewhirst, and Pranav Vangala emerged victorious in their respective categories.

The weekend's races were guided by Ferrari official driver Miguel Molina, who served as Race Advisor. The Navarra Circuit, a new addition to the series, is a challenging 2.444-mile track located in Northern Spain. This season opener marked the debut of the Ferrari 296 Challenge for many drivers.

On Saturday, windy yet dry conditions allowed drivers to post impressive qualifying times. Gilbert Yates secured pole position in Trofeo Pirelli with a time of 1:45.058. In Coppa Shell, Paul Simmerson claimed the top spot with a 1:46.810 lap time during qualifying.

Sunday's fair weather continued to favour competitors. Yates maintained his strong performance in Trofeo Pirelli by achieving pole again with a lap of 1:44.670. Meanwhile, Mike Dewhirst excelled in Coppa Shell, securing pole with a time of 1:45.800.

The first race on Saturday saw intense competition in both classes. In Trofeo Pirelli, Yates capitalised on his pole position to lead ahead of Pranav Vangala and Oscar Ryndziewicz. Despite challenges from Callum Leathem and others, Yates held firm to win as rain threatened towards the end.

In Coppa Shell, Peter Hunter briefly led before Simmerson reclaimed his position and eventually won after an exciting battle with Mike Dewhirst and others. The race concluded with Simmerson taking victory followed by Dewhirst and Hunter.

Sunday's Thrilling Conclusion

The second day brought more excitement as Yates and Vangala battled fiercely in Trofeo Pirelli. Vangala ultimately overtook Yates near the end to claim his first-ever victory in this series. Leathem rounded out the podium positions after an impressive debut performance.

In Coppa Shell's second race, Simmerson initially led but lost ground after overshooting turn one. Dewhirst took advantage to secure his first win of the season while Hunter finished second and Simmerson recovered to third place.

The next round of the Ferrari Challenge UK Trofeo Pirelli race series will take place at Oulton Park in Cheshire on 16-17 May 2025.
