Fastag Annual Pass - 1.4 Lakh Passes Activated On Day One
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways rolled out the Fastag Annual Toll Pass on August 15, priced at ₹3,000. The Fastag Annual Pass remains valid for either one year or 200 toll transactions, whichever is reached earlier.
The new Fastag annual pass has been made available for use across National Highways and Expressways and is specifically for the use of private vehicle owners. The Ministry of Road Transportation & Highways reported that 1.4 lakh annual passes were activated on Independence Day.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) confirmed the annual pass scheme went live at 1,150 toll plazas across the country. Arrangements were completed to enable acceptance of the new pass from the first day of launch.
On day one, 1.39 lakh transactions were recorded through Fastag linked to the annual pass. The figure was logged across toll plazas covered under the rollout and reflected usage from vehicle owners who had activated the new facility. Holders of the new annual
Fastag pass received SMS alerts confirming zero deduction of toll amounts.
The Rajmarg Yatra mobile application, which manages the Fastag system, reported between 20,000 and 25,000 active users at a time on launch day. NHAI also assigned nodal officers to each toll plaza to oversee smooth operations. The National Highway Helpline number 1033 was also reinforced, with more than 100 additional personnel handling inquiries from users.
Eligibility for the Fastag annual pass is restricted to private, non-commercial vehicles including cars, jeeps, and vans. Commercial vehicles have not been included in the scheme at this stage.
Activation can be completed online through the Rajmarg Yatra app or the NHAI website. Processing of the pass is typically completed within two hours of purchase after verification of vehicle and FASTag details.
FASTag adoption in India currently covers about 98 percent of toll transactions nationwide. Official figures list more than 80 million users registered under the system.
