F1 75 Celebration At Goodwood Festival Of Speed Features Adrian Newey, Gordon Murray, And Ross Brawn

The Festival of Speed, presented by Mastercard, is gearing up for a grand celebration of 75 years of the Formula 1 World Championship. This event, scheduled from Thursday, 10 July to Sunday, 13 July, will feature some of the most influential figures in motorsport. Among them are Adrian Newey OBE, Professor Gordon Murray MBE, and Ross Brawn OBE.

Adrian Newey has been a pivotal figure in Formula 1 design for nearly four decades. He holds an impressive record with 223 Grand Prix wins and 26 World Championships. His innovative designs have significantly influenced car engineering. At this year's festival, Newey will showcase two cars from his collection: the Lotus 49 and the Leyton House CG901.

The 'Innovators' class at the festival will honour those who have set new benchmarks in performance and design philosophy. Adrian Newey has curated this class alongside Goodwood's team. "It’s a celebration not just of the machines," Newey stated, "but of the creativity, craftsmanship, and engineering excellence that have defined the sport over the past 75 years."

Professor Gordon Murray began his motorsport career in South Africa before joining Brabham in England in 1969. As Chief Designer at just 26, he created groundbreaking Brabhams like the BT46B ‘Fan Car’. Later at McLaren, he oversaw a dominant era with drivers Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna.

Ross Brawn is renowned for pushing technical boundaries in Formula 1. He was instrumental in Michael Schumacher's seven World Championships and led Brawn GP to a fairytale victory in 2009. Brawn's contributions to modernising Formula 1 include advocating for sustainable innovation.

The Duke of Richmond expressed excitement about hosting these legendary designers: "Pushing technology's boundaries has always been central to Formula 1's relentless pursuit of performance." He added that their presence would enhance this year's festival as they showcase some of F1 history's most dominant cars.

A Grand Celebration

This year's Festival of Speed promises to be its largest yet with over 100 significant F1 cars attending alongside eight former champions like Alain Prost and Nigel Mansell. The event is divided into six content pillars: 'Prologue', 'Pioneers', 'Innovators', 'Underdogs', 'Champions', and 'Teams'.

Tickets for Friday through Sunday are sold out; however, limited Thursday tickets remain available on goodwood.com. The festival also offers exceptional hospitality packages for those seeking an unforgettable experience.

Gordon Murray Automotive is featured prominently at this year’s event with a Central Feature display at Goodwood House celebrating Murray’s extraordinary career spanning six decades.

The Festival of Speed remains one of the world's largest automotive gatherings since its inception in 1993 against Goodwood House's stunning backdrop in West Sussex.
