Eight Volvo Cars Including Plug-Ins Recognised As Car And Driver Editors' Choice Winners For 2025

Eight Volvo models have been honoured with the Car and Driver Editors’ Choice Award for 2025. Among these are two plug-in hybrids, the XC90 T8 and XC60 T8 SUVs, and the fully electric EX30 SUV. Mild hybrid versions of the XC90, XC60, and XC40 SUVs, along with the V90 Cross Country and V60 Cross Country wagons, also received accolades.

The Swedish automaker offers three fully electric models: EX90, EX40, and EX30. Interest in plug-in hybrids is rising in the U.S., boosting sales of Volvo's hybrid models. The award-winning vehicles were chosen from nearly 500 tested models for their mission fulfilment, value maximisation, and engaging driving experience.

Car and Driver’s rigorous testing process evaluates each vehicle's performance in its market segment. Only 2025 model year vehicles that editors have driven are eligible for this recognition. "Volvo's consistent approach to performance and luxury throughout its lineup wins it several Editors' Choice awards in numerous segments," stated Tony Quiroga, Editor-in-Chief of Car and Driver.
