Honda Continues Winning Streak At Detroit Grand Prix With Alex Palou's Victory
Honda celebrated a significant victory at the Indianapolis 500 this year, with Alex Palou securing their 16th win in the event. This triumph marked Honda's first Indy 500 win in the hybrid era. Palou's performance has been outstanding, winning five of the initial six races this season. He currently leads the drivers' championship by 112 points as he heads into the Detroit race.
Honda's dominance in the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES is evident, as they have won every race so far. Alex Palou claimed victories at St. Petersburg, Thermal, Barber Motorsports Park, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, alongside his Indy 500 success. Kyle Kirkwood added to Honda's achievements with a win at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Since its introduction in 2012, Honda's HI22TT engine series has achieved over 100 wins in the IndyCar series. This includes eight Indianapolis 500 victories and multiple championships for both drivers and manufacturers. The engine is a 2.2-liter, six-cylinder, twin-turbocharged powerhouse that has been instrumental in Honda's success.
The Detroit Grand Prix has been a stronghold for Honda since it moved to the downtown street circuit in 2023. Alex Palou won there in its inaugural year on the new track, followed by Scott Dixon leading a Honda sweep last year. Overall, Honda boasts 18 victories at the Detroit Grand Prix across different circuits.
The current lineup for Honda in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES includes notable drivers such as Colton Herta and Marcus Ericsson from Andretti Global, and Scott Dixon and Alex Palou from Chip Ganassi Racing. Other teams like Dale Coyne Racing and Meyer Shank Racing also feature competitive drivers under Honda's banner.
