Dean Wilson Achieves Seventh Place Finish At Salt Lake City Supercross Finale

The 2025 AMA Supercross season wrapped up in Salt Lake City, featuring the final East/West Showdown in the 250SX class. The event also marked the last race for Honda HRC Progressive's Dean Wilson on the factory CRF450RWE. Riders faced a challenging dry track as they competed in front of a packed stadium.

In the 250SX main event, Jo Shimoda and Chance Hymas of Honda HRC Progressive had difficult starts. Shimoda managed to finish eighth after a consistent performance. Hymas, despite an early setback, climbed back to finish 11th. Cullin Park and Gavin Towers from Phoenix Racing Honda ended in 15th and 19th places, respectively.

Joey Savatgy led the Red Rider effort in the 450SX main event with a fifth-place finish for Quad Lock Honda Racing. Dean Wilson concluded his stint with a strong seventh place, meeting his personal goal for the series. Shane McElrath and Dylan Ferrandis finished ninth and tenth, respectively, while Jeremy Hand rounded out the top 15.

During Friday's Media Day activities in Salt Lake City, Jo Shimoda, Chance Hymas, and Dean Wilson participated in interviews and on-track sessions. Wilson also took part in opening ceremonies dressed as his YouTube persona, Grandpa Earl. Local dealerships supported the event with interactive booths showcasing Honda models.

In combined qualifying for 250SX East/West, Shimoda led Honda riders with the sixth-fastest time. Hymas followed in 14th place. In 450SX qualifying, Shane McElrath and Dylan Ferrandis posted impressive times, securing fifth and sixth positions respectively.

In heat races for 250SX, Hymas finished third in the East heat while Park secured sixth place. Shimoda overcame a crash to secure ninth place in the West heat. Towers advanced through a fourth-place finish in the LCQ.

Team Reflections

Lars Lindstrom expressed optimism about moving forward after a challenging Supercross season without key riders Hunter and Jett Lawrence. He praised Dean Wilson's contribution over five races and highlighted goals for improving competitiveness next season.

Dean Wilson shared his gratitude for participating despite battling back pain earlier in the week. He credited physiotherapist 'Doc G' for helping him race. "These five races with Honda have been unbelievable," he said.

Upcoming Events

The Salt Lake City round was the final one of this Supercross season. The team now looks forward to competing in the AMA Pro Motocross series starting May 24 in Pala, California. Race transporters will return to American Honda's campus before preparations begin.

The championship points standings saw Cooper Webb leading with 365 points after all rounds concluded. Chase Sexton closely followed with 363 points while Justin Cooper secured third place with 281 points.
