Dakar 2025 Stage 12 Results: Docherty & Moraes Claim Final Stage - Sanders & Al Rajhi Take Overall Wins

Stage 12 of the 47th edition of the Dakar rally saw Michael Docherty and Lucas Moraes win the stage as KTM's Daniel Sanders and Overdrive Racing's Yazeed Al Rajhi took the overall wins at Dakar 2025.

The 2025 edition of the Dakar finally came to an end at in Shubaytah with 175 competitors in total (cars, bikes and trucks) crossing the line after completing the entire distance of the world's toughest rally - 7,453 km (bikes) or 7,828 km (Cars). Another 52 competitors completed the rally as part of the Dakar Experience while 108 exited the rally early.

BAS WorldKTM's Michael Docherty won the final round of Dakar 2025 as all riders started the final 131km ride to the finish line together. The Rally 2 rider finished the stage in 54:11, taking the win by just 3 seconds from Honda's Adrien Van Beveren.

The final podium spot in Stage 12 was taken by another Rally 2 rider, Tobias Ebster, who finished the stage 44 seconds behind his teammate. Fourth place was claimed by Honda's Toscha Schareina (57 seconds behind) while Slovnaft Racing's Stefan Svitko took 5th place.

However, at the end of day 12, it was KTM's Daniel Sanders who took home the overall victory. The Aussie dominated Dakar 2025 from the start, claiming 5 stage wins as he finished the rally in 53 hours 08 minutes and 52 seconds to claim his first overall victory at Dakar in his 5th run at the world's toughest rally.

Honda's Toscha Schareina took 2nd place, the Spaniard put on a late charge but eventually fell 8 minutes and 50 seconds short of Sanders. The final podium spot was taken by Honda's Adrien Van Beveren, the Dakar legend from France, ending the rally 14:46 adrift of Sanders.

KTM''s Luciano Benavides took 4th place, the Argentine rider ending 22:16 behind his Aussie teammate at the end of Dakar 2025. Last year's winner, Honda's Ricky Brabec took 5th place.

Hero's Nacho Cornejo, the lone remaining rider from the Indian manufacturer's team at Dakar 2025, ended the rally in 7th overall. KTM's rookie rider Edgar Canet took home the win in the Rally 2 Class, ending the rally in 8th place overall. All three Indian riders at Dakar 2025, Harith Noah, Jatin Jain and Ashish Roarane withdrew from the Dakar by the end of Stage 7.

In the cars category, Toyota's Lucas Moraes won the special stage with a time of 54 minutes and 14 seconds. The Brazilian finished the stage, 01:33 ahead of Nasser Al Attiyah in 2nd and 02:11 ahead of his teammate Henk Lategan.

Ford's Mattias Ekstrom took 4th place in the special, ending up just 1 seconds behind Lategan while Daniel Schroeder of PS Laser Racing was the fastest of the side by side racers in 5th place.

Saudi Arabia's own Yazeed Al Rajhi took the overall win at Dakar 2025, his first overall win in 11 attempts at the Dakar Rally. The Overdrive Racing driver finally overhauled Henk Lategan yesterday to claim the win.

Al Rajhi finished Dakar 2025 in 52 hours, 52 minutes and 15 seconds, ending the rally 3 minutes and 57 seconds ahead of South Africa's Henk Lategan's Toyota Hilux. The final podium spot was claimed by Ford's Mattias Ekstrom (20:21 behind), a historic result at the first time of asking for the American team at the Dakar Rally.

5-time Dakar winner Nasser Al Attiyah ended the rally in 4th overall. The Qatari driver ended up 23:58 behind Al Rajhi, which included 17 minutes of time penalties including 10 minutes for ending the stage without a spare wheel, which also cost him the win on that stage. Ford's Mitchell Guthrie, took the final spot in the top 5, the American finishing 01:02:10 behind Al Rajhi.

The Challenger Category was won by Nicolas Cavigliasso while the SSV category saw Brock Heger of Sebastien Loeb Racing emerge victorious. The Trucks category was won by Martin Macik of MM Technology while Jordi Juvanteny of the KH7 Ecovergy team won the Dakar Future Mission 1000. The Dakar Classic was won by Carlos Milla of the Factorytub team with India's Sanjay Takale finishing in 18th place.
