Cory Talaska Wins Opening Round Of 2025 Formula Drift PROSPEC Championship In Atlanta

Cory Talaska secured his first career victory in the Formula DRIFT Link ECU PROSPEC Championship's opening round. The event took place on May 9, 2025, at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. Talaska, driving a Talaska Creative E36 BMW 2JZ, outperformed his competitors to claim the top spot.

Despite strong performances from rookies during the Seeding Bracket Qualification, experienced drivers dominated the podium. Talaska's win marked his first since his rookie year in 2021 and was a significant milestone in his drifting career. Dmitriy Brutskiy, who finished second, remains the only double PROSPEC Champion, having won back-to-back titles in 2020 and 2021.

Brutskiy had previously won the PROSPEC Final Round in 2024 and competed in the FD PRO Championship that season. Although he didn't qualify for PRO in Atlanta this year, his second-place finish in PROSPEC was a commendable achievement. Cody Buchanan claimed third place, reinforcing his impressive skills since joining PROSPEC in 2023.

Josh Stuart finished fourth in only his fifth PROSPEC Round with his StuartFamDrifting C6 Corvette. This result highlighted Stuart's growing prowess in the competition. Meanwhile, rookies like Collete Davis and Brian Hoplamazian made their debut this season.

Camren Sorensen gained attention as both the youngest competitor at just 13 years old and winner of the Seeding Bracket Qualification. Sorensen now sits sixth in the Championship standings with points from both Qualification and Competition rounds.

Collin Zielinski emerged as the highest-placed rookie by finishing eighth overall. His performance moved him to fifth place overall and put him ahead in the Rookie of the Year title chase by one point over Sorensen.
