In India, the demand for CNG vehicles has surged due to rising fuel costs and the government's push for eco-friendly transport. This has prompted carmakers like Maruti, Tata, Hyundai, and Toyota to expand their CNG offerings, especially in the SUV segment.

Unlike before, when CNG kits were limited to basic models, many brands now offer them across multiple trims. Here are some of the most affordable factory-fitted CNG SUVs available in India.

Tata Nexon (Rs 9 lakh to Rs 13.70 lakh)

The Tata Nexon stands out as it offers four power sources: petrol, diesel, electric, and CNG. It's also India's first turbocharged CNG compact SUV using Tata Motors' twin-cylinder technology for better boot space despite its 60-litre capacity. The Nexon comes in various trims including Smart+, Pure+, Creative+, and Dark Knight editions.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor (Rs 8.72 lakh)

Toyota's Urban Cruiser Taisor is based on the Maruti Fronx but offers a CNG kit only in its entry-level E variant. Despite being pricier than its Maruti counterpart by Rs 23,000, it features a 77.5hp engine paired with a manual gearbox and claims a mileage of 28.51km/kg.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx (Rs 8.49 lakh to Rs 9.35 lakh)

The Maruti Fronx sub-4-metre SUV provides two variants equipped with factory-installed kits: Sigma (base) & Delta (higher). Both feature similar engines delivering impressive mileage figures at around twenty-eight point five one kilometers per kilogramme according to manufacturer claims.

Hyundai Exter (Rs 7.51 lakh to Rs 9.53 lakh)

Hyundai's Exter is available in both single- and dual-cylinder configurations like the Tata Nexon iCNG model. Its variants include EX (base), S Smart, S+ Executive among others with capacities up to 60 litres per cylinder option while excluding top-tier SX(O) trim from factory-fitted kits lineup altogether.
