Citroën India Reports Sales Increase In March 2025 While C5 Aircross Faces Ongoing Challenges
In March 2025, Citroën India experienced a significant increase in sales compared to February. This rise was primarily driven by the C3, eC3, Aircross, and Basalt Coupe SUV models. The Basalt model, in particular, achieved the highest sales in the last five months. Specifically, Citroën India sold 268 cars in February, which rose to 407 cars in March, indicating a positive trend for the company in India.
Despite the overall success, the C5 Aircross model did not sell any units in March. This wasn't an isolated incident; the C5 Aircross has failed to sell a single car in three of the past five months. From November 2024 to March 2025, only two units were sold. This highlights a challenge for Citroën in attracting customers to this particular model.

The Citroën C5 Aircross is powered by a 1997cc DW10FC 4-cylinder diesel engine. It produces 177 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque and is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Despite its impressive specifications and features like LED projector headlights and a panoramic sunroof, it struggles to attract buyers.
The interior of the C5 Aircross is designed for comfort and safety. It includes Claudia leather and leather-effect fabric, Citroën Advanced Comfort Progressive Hydraulic Cushion Suspension, and Blind Spot Information System. Additionally, it offers Electronic Stability Control and various parking assist features for urban convenience.
Looking forward, Citroën plans to launch a new version of the C5 Aircross with a more aggressive design. Based on a concept from last October, this model will feature shorter headlights and sportier bumpers. It will also include significant design changes like a three-tier grille structure and redesigned tail lamps.

The new model will be built on the STLA Medium platform and will offer various powertrains. These include 1.2-liter and 1.6-liter petrol engines available in mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. Options for single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD configurations are expected, with the former promising a WLTP range exceeding 600 km.
Future Prospects for Citroën
The upcoming C-class SUV is expected to launch by mid-2025. Its electric edition is anticipated soon after. While Citroën India has seen growth across several models, the C5 Aircross remains an exception. Despite its features and upcoming advancements, it struggles to capture interest in the Indian market.
DriveSpark Thinks
Citroën's future efforts seem focused on addressing these challenges with innovative vehicle offerings. However, it remains uncertain if these efforts will successfully attract more customers to the C5 Aircross model.
