Citroen Basalt Dark Edition Launch Teaser Reveals New Updates: All-Black Trend On The Rise!

The Citroen Basalt is set to join the trend of all-black variants with its upcoming Dark Edition. A teaser has been released, indicating some dark-themed updates for both the exterior and interior. The launch is anticipated shortly. This new variant will feature dark chrome elements on the outside and black upholstery inside, while mechanically, it is expected to remain unchanged.

In line with other all-black models, the Citroen Basalt Dark Edition will likely come in a new black shade. This will add to its existing colour options, which include Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue, Polar White, and Garnet Red. The latter two colours also offer a dual-tone finish with a contrasting black roof.

Dark Chrome Elements and Interior Updates

The teaser video suggests that the alloy wheels and badges might receive a dark chrome finish. Additionally, the front and rear skid plates, typically silver on the standard model, could be blacked out. Inside, there seems to be new black upholstery replacing the regular light beige seats and dual-tone dashboard.

Most black edition models are based on top-spec trims, and this is expected for the Basalt as well. The current engine options include an 82hp 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine or a 110hp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. Only the latter offers an automatic gearbox option. It remains unclear which powertrains will be available for the Dark Edition.

Rising Popularity of Dark Editions

The popularity of Dark Edition SUVs continues to rise with models like Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, Honda Elevate, Tata Harrier and Safari offering such variants. Recently added to this list is Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition. Even vehicles like Toyota Hilux and MG Comet have embraced this trend with their own Dark Editions.

Citroen's Basalt faces competition from Tata Curvv, which is also expected to release its own Dark Edition soon. This growing trend highlights consumer interest in sleek all-black designs across various vehicle types.

This move by Citroen aligns with a broader industry trend towards offering stylish all-black versions of popular models. As more manufacturers introduce these editions, it reflects an increasing demand for unique aesthetics among car buyers.
