Citroen Aircross Achieves 5-Star Safety Rating Under Bharat NCAP

Citroen India has achieved a significant milestone in vehicle safety, with the Citroen Aircross SUV earning a 5-star rating for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). The compact SUV secured 27.05 out of 32 points for adult safety and 40 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP), translating to a 4-star child safety rating.

Safety Milestone For Citroen India

The Aircross becomes the 22nd model to receive a 5-star safety rating under Bharat NCAP, marking an important step for Citroen's commitment to safety. Interestingly, it scored the lowest adult safety points among all 22 5-star-rated models-yet still meets the stringent criteria set by the program.

In Bharat NCAP's crash assessments, the Aircross demonstrated a stable body structure and footwell area, capable of withstanding further loading during collisions. Adult occupant protection was rated from good to adequate across all key body regions in both frontal and side impact tests. The SUV also performed impressively in the side pole impact test, providing complete head protection with the help of curtain airbags.

Child Safety & Protection

For younger passengers, the Citroen Aircross scored strongly as well. The SUV offered full protection to both 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies when secured in rearward-facing seats using ISOFIX anchorages and support legs. The model features i-Size anchorages as standard, allowing easier installation of compatible child seats and enhancing family safety on the move.

The Aircross features a robust body structure comprising High Strength Steel (HSS), Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS), enhancing crash energy absorption and minimizing cabin deformation.

Notable comfort and convenience features include LED projector headlamps, automatic climate control, power-folding ORVMs, a soft-touch dashboard, grab handles, and rear AC vents. The Citroen Aircross is powered by two petrol engine options - a 1.2-litre PURETECH 110 turbocharged unit producing 110PS and 205Nm of torque, and a 1.2-litre PURETECH 82 naturally aspirated engine. Transmission choices include 5-speed and 6-speed manual options, along with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Buyers can also choose between 5-seater and 5+2 seating layouts, making the Aircross versatile enough for families of varying sizes.
