Chance Hymas To Undergo Surgery For Torn ACL After Injury At High Point Motocross
Chance Hymas, a Honda HRC Progressive rider, sustained a significant injury during the AMA Pro Motocross Championship at High Point Raceway. While competing in the final 250-class moto, he injured his right knee. Despite the pain, he managed to finish third in the race and currently holds third place in the overall standings.
A scan on June 16 revealed a complete tear of Hymas' anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee. Additionally, there was a slight sprain to his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and a minor meniscus contusion. This marks his first injury to the right ACL, though he has had two surgeries on his left ACL previously.

Hymas is set for surgery on June 24 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He expressed determination to recover and return stronger next year. "It's definitely a bummer—gut-wrenching," Hymas shared in an Instagram video. "I've done this before, so it's not going to stop me now."
The injury means Hymas will miss the rest of the 2025 racing season but plans to rejoin the team for 2026. Brandon Wilson from American Honda commented on Hymas' resilience: "Chance is as tough as they come...we know that he'll come out the other side stronger than ever."
Before returning to competition at The Wick 338 in Southwick, Massachusetts, on June 28, Honda HRC Progressive will have a break from racing. This pause offers time for adjustments following Hymas' absence.
American Honda's Role
American Honda Motor Co., Inc., distributes Honda motorcycles and related products across the United States through independent dealers. Their Power Sports & Products Division manages sales and marketing operations for these items.
The team remains optimistic about Hymas' recovery due to his past experiences with similar injuries. His recent performance included a notable sweep at Thunder Valley National, showcasing his potential before this setback.
Hymas remains focused on rehabilitation with plans to work with Dr. Gubernick in California post-surgery. His commitment and support from American Honda suggest a promising return next season.
