Maserati MSG Racing Faces Challenges In Jakarta E-Prix With Double DNF For Drivers
The Jakarta E-Prix proved challenging for Maserati MSG Racing, as both drivers, Stoffel Vandoorne and Jake Hughes, faced difficulties in the race. Despite promising performances in practice sessions, neither driver could finish the race. The team had hoped to capitalise on their strategies but encountered setbacks that led to a double DNF.
During the morning practice sessions, both drivers showed potential with strong performances. Jake Hughes topped Free Practice Two, while Stoffel Vandoorne also performed well. However, qualifying did not go as planned, with neither driver advancing beyond the group stages. The intense heat added another layer of difficulty, impacting performance.
In the race, both drivers started cleanly but struggled to gain positions. Their strategy focused on managing battery and tyre temperatures to make a late-race push using Attack Mode. Unfortunately, Jake's race ended prematurely due to a battery temperature alarm, which brought out the safety car.
Stoffel Vandoorne aimed to take advantage of the safety car period but lost control of his car and crashed into a wall. Although he was unharmed, this incident dashed any hopes of scoring points for Maserati MSG Racing in Jakarta. The team now turns its attention to upcoming races in Berlin and London.
Jake Hughes expressed disappointment over the weekend's outcome: "It was a disappointing end to the weekend. Both cars not finishing the race is never good to see." He acknowledged their pace was competitive but lamented not seeing their strategy fully unfold due to technical issues.
