Kia Carnival MPV And Telluride SUV Honoured With 2025 Winter Vehicle Awards By NEMPA
The Kia Carnival MPV and Telluride SUV have been awarded the 2025 Winter Vehicle Awards by the New England Motor Press Association for their engineering excellence and performance in winter conditions.
The New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) has honoured the 2025 Carnival MPV and 2025 Telluride SUV with Winter Vehicle Awards. The Telluride, a favourite in New England, has now won four times, including three class wins for midsize SUVs in 2021, 2024, and 2025, plus an overall win in 2020. This marks the Carnival's first victory in the minivan category.
Both vehicles were recognised for their engineering excellence and durability in challenging New England weather. NEMPA represents journalists from various media outlets across the region. The Telluride was named Best Midsize SUV due to its sophisticated design and X-Pro capability.
Steven Center, COO & EVP of Kia America, stated, "New England winters are the defining, real-world tests of vehicle durability, and the Carnival and Telluride each rise to the occasion as temperatures drop, and overdeliver as pacesetters in their respective segments." This highlights the vehicles' ability to perform well under harsh conditions.
Clifford Atiyeh, President of NEMPA, praised the Carnival's MPV format for blending minivan and SUV attributes. He noted its efficient hybrid powertrain makes it a reliable family vehicle during winter. "In its sophomore year on the market for the standard powertrain and inaugural model year for the hybrid, the Kia Carnival has been named our NEMPA Official Winter Minivan of the Year," Atiyeh said.
The Telluride continues to impress with its rugged yet refined look. Designed specifically for U.S. consumers, it remains popular among New Englanders since its launch six years ago. Atiyeh remarked on its features: "The helpful screens, three-row seating, ample cargo space, and the X-Pro model with all-terrain tires ensure that the Telluride is a winter-ready midsize SUV with capability for all seasons."
NEMPA members conducted extensive testing throughout Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont before voting on winners. Their evaluations ensured that both vehicles met high standards across various conditions.
