The BYD Sealion 7 is set to become BYD's priciest offering in India, competing with models like the BMW iX1 L, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Volvo EX40. The launch is scheduled for today (February 17, 2025), marking its position as the flagship model above the Seal. Bookings started on January 18, following its showcase at the 2025 Auto Expo. Deliveries for the first 70 customers will commence on March 7.

Prices for this premium SUV are anticipated to begin at approximately Rs 50 lakh. This pricing positions it higher than the Seal, which ranges between Rs 41 lakh and Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom). The Sealion 7's dimensions include a length of 4.8 metres and a wheelbase of 2.9 metres, making it a spacious option in its segment.

BYD Sealion 7: Design & Specifications

Based on BYD's Ocean Series design language, the Sealion 7 follows the Seal as the second model in India with this aesthetic. It measures 4830 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2930 mm. The vehicle also boasts a width of 1925 mm and a height of 1620 mm. Additionally, it offers practical storage with a boot capacity of 500 litres and a frunk of 48 litres.

The SUV comes in two variants: Premium and Performance. The Premium variant features a single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup delivering 308bhp and 380Nm of torque. In contrast, the Performance variant includes a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing an impressive 523bhp and 690Nm.

Both variants are equipped with an 82.56 kWh battery pack. The Premium variant claims a range of up to 567 km, while the Performance variant offers slightly less at around 542 km. Inside, the Sealion 7 features modern technology such as a rotating infotainment touchscreen measuring 15.6 inches.

The interior also includes a virtual instrument cluster sized at 10.25 inches, ventilated powered front seats, and a panoramic glass roof for an enhanced driving experience. Connectivity options include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility along with a ventilated wireless charging pad.
