BYD Sealion 7 Launch Date Revealed - Bookings Now Open
Chinese automaker BYD is gearing up for the release of its latest electric SUV for the Indian market, the Sealion 7. The BYD Sealion 7 is set to be launched on February 17 and the firm has opened bookings for the electric SUV. Deliveries are set to commence on March 7.
The Sealion 7 will be BYD's most premium offering in the country and it was previewed at Auto Expo 2025. BYD is taking bookings for the Sealion 7 for Rs 70,000 and in a unique promotional move, the company is matching this deposit with an additional Rs 70,000 from its end towards the purchase price.
BYD is including a 7-year or 1,50,000km warranty for new owners of the Sealion 7. Additionally, BYD is offering a complimentary 7kW AC home charger, complete with free installation. These initiatives are aimed at the first 70 customers of BYD Sealion 7.
BYD Sealion 7 Variants & Technical Specifications
The Sealion 7 will be available in two distinct variants: the Premium which features a 313hp single motor, RWD setup and Performance which sports a 530hp dual-motor, AWD powertrain. The Performance AWD variant can sprint from 0-100kph in just 4.5 seconds, while the RWD Premium variant does the sprint in 6.7 seconds.
Both the Premium and Performance variants sport the same 82.56kWh LFP battery pack with BYD's Blade batteries. The Premium variant, offers a range of up to 567km, whereas the Performance variant, provides a slightly lower range of 542km on a single charge. The battery pack of the Sealion 7 supports 230kW DC fast charging and will charge from 10-80% in just 24 minutes.
BYD Sealion 7: Design, Features & Safety
The design of the Sealion 7 is influenced by BYD's Ocean X concept's styling and it also shares several design elements with the Seal sedan, including the headlamps and connected tail-lamp setup, but features a more aggressive front and rear bumper design.
The Sealion 7 is quite a large SUV measuring 4,830mm long with a wheelbase of 2,930mm. Storage is also well catered for, with a 58-litre frunk and a 520-litre boot, which can be expanded to 1,789 litres with the rear seats folded. The Sealion 7 will ride on either 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels and be available in four colour options: Cosmos Black, Atlantis Grey, Aurora White, and Shark Grey.
The Sealion 7's interior is dominated by a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, mirroring the setup found in other BYD models. The SUV is further equipped with a head-up display, ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory function, and a panoramic glass roof. Additionally, it offers ambient lighting, 12 speakers, a wireless phone charger, a powered tailgate, and vehicle-to-load capability, allowing external devices to be powered through the car's battery.
The Sealion 7 comes equipped with 11 airbags and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). This suite includes forward collision alert, blind-spot detection, and lane departure assist, among other features. The SUV also benefits from a 360-degree camera system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, hill hold control, and both front and rear parking sensors, ensuring a safe and secure driving experience.
