Brazil Enhances Representation In Women's Worldwide Car Of The Year With Milene Rios Joining As Juror
Milene Rios, a Brazilian journalist with extensive experience in the automotive sector, has joined the Women's Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) jury. This prestigious award is judged solely by female automotive journalists. With Milene's inclusion, the panel now comprises 86 judges from 55 countries, enhancing its global representation.
Milene Rios has built a robust career over two decades in Brazil's automotive journalism scene. She has worked with top media outlets like Jovem Pan radio, O Estado de S.Paulo newspaper, G1 news portal, and TV Globo. Currently, she is a reporter for Autoesporte, Brazil's leading automotive television program.

In 2024, Brazil achieved record sales in used vehicles, surpassing 15 million units. New vehicle sales also rose by 14%, matching pre-pandemic levels. The country is a leader in sustainable fuel development, producing clean hybrid vehicles that run on ethanol and biodiesel derived from soy and other sources.
Brazilians have unique preferences when buying cars. Multimedia systems often influence their purchasing decisions more than safety or engine performance. Chinese brands are rapidly expanding in Brazil; new entrants like Neta and Zeekr joined existing brands such as Chery and BYD by 2025.
The Women's Worldwide Car of the Year was founded by Sandy Myhre from New Zealand in 2009. It aims to highlight the best cars annually while amplifying women's voices in the automotive industry. Marta García serves as Executive President of this unique awards group.
The award criteria focus on universal aspects like safety, quality, price, and environmental impact rather than gender-specific preferences. The goal is to ensure women's perspectives are heard globally, recognising mobility as essential for personal and professional opportunities.
Milene Rios' Contributions
At Autoesporte, Milene reaches around 7 million viewers weekly through TV Globo and its streaming channel. Her role involves presenting market statistics, expert reviews, mechanical analyses, and traffic tips to keep audiences informed about the automotive world.
Milene's project #mamaeacelerada connects her passion for cars with her role as a mother. Inspired by her children Davi and Maria Eduarda, it empowers women to choose suitable vehicles while offering advice on maintenance and insurance.
Her ability to simplify complex automotive topics into practical terms has earned her followers' trust on social media. This skill makes technical information accessible to a broader audience.
Milene will represent Brazil at WWCOTY alongside journalist Isadora Carvalho. Her involvement underscores Brazil's growing importance in the global automotive market.
This participation not only highlights Milene's expertise but also strengthens WWCOTY's mission to give women a significant voice in the car industry worldwide.
