Top 5 Things About The New BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition
The BMW Z4 M40i has introduced a new special edition in India, known as the Pure Impulse edition. This marks the first time a manual gearbox is available for the Z4 M40i, priced at Rs 97.90 lakh ex-showroom. An 8-speed automatic option is also offered, which is less expensive. The Pure Impulse edition includes several cosmetic enhancements both inside and out.
Powertrain & Performance
Under the hood of the Z4 M40i Pure Impulse edition lies a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. It generates 340hp and 500Nm of torque, powering the rear wheels. The standout feature is the new 6-speed manual gearbox, absent in the regular Z4 M40i. The automatic variant retains its 8-speed torque converter. BMW claims a 0-100kph time of 4.5 seconds with the automatic and 4.6 seconds with the manual.

Exterior Highlights
The Pure Impulse edition also introduces two new colour options: Frozen Deep Green and Sanremo Green, complementing existing colours. The exterior features a staggered wheel setup with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear M alloy wheels in a double-spoke design. Additionally, it boasts red brake calipers and gloss-black finishes on doors and wing mirror caps.
Interior Enhancements
Inside, this special edition roadster features Vernasca Cognac leather upholstery in dual-tone black and beige with contrasting stitching exclusive to the manual variant. In contrast, the standard Z4 M40i comes with black leather upholstery. The equipment list remains unchanged, including dual 10.25-inch displays for instruments and central touchscreen, dual-zone auto AC, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat, and wireless phone charging.

The BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse edition arrives in India as a full import like its regular counterpart. The automatic version costs Rs 4 lakh more than the standard model. Below are the prices for different variants:

Optional Features & Competition

The BMW Z4 competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet but stands out as a unique offering due to its manual transmission in a two-seat roadster format. According to BMW, these Pure Impulse variants will be limited editions.
