BMW Model Updates For Summer 2025: New Features And Enhanced Efficiency Across Range
BMW is set to introduce a range of enhancements in its electric vehicles and digital features by summer 2025. The BMW i4 will see improved energy efficiency and extended range due to new power electronics. Additionally, a more powerful version of the BMW i4 will be launched. Many models will also feature Comfort Access and the BMW Digital Key as standard, simplifying access for users.
From July 2025, the BMW i4 eDrive35 and eDrive40 models will incorporate silicon carbide semiconductor components in their power electronics. This upgrade reduces energy consumption by approximately 4.5% and extends the range by up to 22 kilometres, depending on the model configuration. The new BMW i4 M60 xDrive will offer an impressive system output of 442 kW/601 hp, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds.
The BMW Digital Key is becoming a preferred method for accessing many BMW models. Starting with the BMW iX in March 2025, this feature will expand to various series by July 2025. The setup process has been simplified with a Setup Card that links the BMW ID to the vehicle via the My BMW app. Users can share their Digital Key with others through text messages, allowing up to 18 devices to be activated.
From summer 2025, several BMW models will come equipped with a tyre repair kit as standard. This includes models like the BMW 1 Series, 2 Series Gran Coupé, and others. Additionally, customers can now select individual paintwork finishes directly from the BMW Configurator for most models, excluding the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.
BMW has introduced a complimentary extended warranty for high-voltage batteries in all-electric models since April 1, 2025. This warranty covers up to eight years or a maximum of 160,000 kilometres. If battery capacity falls below 70% during this period, repairs are provided at no extra cost.
Interior and Exterior Updates
The summer of 2025 brings new exterior colours for models like the BMW X1, X2, and 2 Series Active Tourer. Options include Fire Red metallic and Night Dusk Blue among others. Interior customisation options have expanded with new upholstery choices such as Veganza perforated upholstery available in various colours.
The Ultimate Package is now available for the BMW X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition models. It includes features like an M Carbon engine cover and Sky Lounge panoramic glass sunroof. The package also enhances performance with an increased top speed of up to 290 km/h.
Technological Advancements
The upgraded BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant now supports natural-language voice control in Turkey, Greece, and Hungary. Customers can link their Amazon Alexa account for intuitive voice commands across various countries including Germany and France.
BMW Maps will receive user interface improvements from summer 2025 under Operating System 8.5. The home screen will feature direct touch buttons for frequently used functions like "Home" and "Work," enhancing navigation ease.
The Parking Assistant Plus feature will be enhanced from July 2025 across many models to improve parking precision using marker lines around parking spots.
The economic success of the BMW Group is rooted in long-term planning and responsible actions focusing on sustainability throughout its product lifecycle—from supply chain management to end-of-life processes.
