Explore Four Exceptional British Classics At H&H Classics' Millbrook Auction
Four classic British cars from a notable private collection are set to be auctioned by H&H Classics at their first Millbrook Sale. These collectible vehicles, spanning the 1930s to the 1970s, will be available for bidding on Wednesday, 25th June. Among the highlights are a rare 1957 Bentley S1 Continental HJ Mulliner Fastback and a low-mileage 1930s Derby Bentley.
The auction will take place at the UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire. The event will feature three additional classic cars from the same collection. The Merlin Collection, named after its owner's interest in aeroplanes, includes these prestigious vehicles.
The 1957 Bentley S1 Continental HJ Mulliner Fastback is one of only ninety-seven right-hand drive models with Design Number 7400 by H.J. Mulliner. It underwent a comprehensive restoration between 2016 and 2019 by Richards of England and Padgett Motor Engineers. The estimated price for this vehicle is between £250,000 and £300,000.
Damian Jones, director at H&H Classics, expressed his admiration for the Bentley: "This Bentley is very impressive, and I’d be surprised if there is a better one on the market at the moment, regardless of price."
The second car from The Merlin Collection is a two-owner 1974 Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster with less than 20,000 miles on it. This model is believed to be one of only two right-hand drive examples finished in Turquoise with Terracotta leather upholstery. Its estimated value ranges from £80,000 to £100,000.
A stunning 1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Drophead Coupe is also part of the collection. Estimated at £90,000 to £110,000, it boasts a documented restoration that took about 30 months and was converted by Viktor Valker at VTG Group. Its elegant lines and two-tone colour scheme make it an eye-catching vehicle.
The oldest car in The Merlin Collection is a low-mileage 1937 Bentley 3½ Litre Vanden Plas Drophead Coupe with just 16,000 miles recorded since new. This well-preserved example comes with extensive documentation including its original Bentley Motors Guarantee and old MOTs. It has an estimated value of £80,000 to £100,000.
Damian Jones commented on this unique vehicle: "This is probably the most original and best conserved Derby Bentley we have ever encountered."
