Bentley EXP 15: Reimagining Luxury Car Design For The Future

Bentley Motors has unveiled its latest luxury concept, EXP 15, at its new design studio. This vision for the future draws from Bentley's early 20th-century Grand Tourer heritage, reimagined for the modern era. The full-size model features an iconic upright grille and a long bonnet, reminiscent of the 1930 Bentley Speed Six Gurney Nutting Sportsman coupe, famously associated with a race against the Blue Train.

EXP 15 is not intended for sale but offers insights into Bentley's upcoming fully electric car set for release in 2026. The design combines classic elements with modern technology, including high-tech lighting and active aerodynamics. The interior showcases a blend of physical and digital interfaces, adaptable to driver preferences.

The concept adheres to five key exterior design principles that will influence future Bentley models. These include 'Upright Elegance,' which ensures a gently curved vertical line at the front, and 'Iconic Grille,' maintaining Bentley's historic visual architecture. 'Endless Bonnet Line' reflects heritage while repurposing space for storage in the electric era.

'Resting Beast' describes the muscular rear haunches that convey power without aggression. The final principle, 'Prestigious Shield,' relates to the large clean surface at the rear, featuring a new winged emblem framed by diamond-patterned lights.

The cabin of EXP 15 draws inspiration from the 1930 Speed Six Gurney Nutting Sportsman coupe. It features a three-seat layout with innovative storage solutions and tailgate seating for outdoor events. The interior blends traditional materials with futuristic elements, like a wool textile by Fox Brothers and lightweight 3D-printed titanium finishes.

The dashboard incorporates both physical and digital features, allowing it to transform based on user needs. A central clock-like device can display various information or serve as an aesthetic centrepiece.

Advanced Materials and Technology

EXP 15's exterior sports Pallas Gold paintwork with ultra-thin aluminium pigment, allowing radar signals to pass through without interference. This finish enhances visibility in autonomous driving environments. Inside, traditional British suppliers provide luxurious fabrics like silk jacquard from Gainsborough and woven metal mesh called 'Acrylic Couture.'

The concept also explores 'Magical Fusion,' merging physical and digital elements seamlessly. This approach aims to balance mechanical charm with modern digital convenience.

Future-Ready Powertrain

While primarily a design concept, EXP 15 envisions a fully-electric all-wheel drive powertrain suitable for sustainable grand tours. Although technical specifications remain undisclosed, this aligns with Bentley's commitment to luxury performance in an eco-friendly package.

EXP 15 is not merely retro-inspired; it integrates subtle cues from past models while showcasing potential future innovations in design and technology.
