Bajaj Auto Launches Coco Electric Three-Wheeler Brand To Transform City Mobility
Bajaj Auto has unveiled its new electric vehicle brand, 'Coco', aiming to transform the electric three-wheeler market. This launch signifies Bajaj's entry into the electric vehicle sector with a diverse range of products for both passenger and cargo use.
The Coco brand introduces three electric autos: P5009, P5012, and P7012. The 'P' denotes passenger use, while the numbers indicate the vehicle's size and battery capacity. The P7012 model, featuring a 12 kWh battery, stands out for its exceptional range and power.
The Coco P7012 is designed for high performance, equipped with a motor producing 7.7 bhp and 36 Nm torque. It can reach speeds of 50 km/h and offers an impressive range of up to 251 km per charge. This model is tailored for efficient city transport with features like multiple drive modes, 180 mm ground clearance, and advanced safety systems such as hill-hold assist.
All Coco electric autos boast a sturdy all-metal body and an appealing design. They include segment-first features like a 5-year battery warranty, spacious seating, enhanced telescopic suspension with dual shock absorbers, anti-roll detection, automatic hazard alerts, LED lighting, and more.
Charging a Coco auto costs approximately ₹240 for a 250 km range, equating to about one rupee per kilometre. These vehicles also feature a 2-speed automatic gearbox to improve torque delivery and extend range. Riders benefit from a digital LCD instrument cluster, USB Type-A charging ports, and TekBox telematics.
The pricing for these electric autos is competitive. The Coco P5009 starts at ₹3,26,797 (ex-showroom) with options for 9 kWh or 12 kWh batteries. The larger Coco P7012 is priced at ₹3,83,004 (ex-showroom), reflecting Bajaj's commitment to offering quality electric autos without compromising on performance.
Strategic Market Positioning
Bajaj Auto plans to phase out its current E-auto range in favour of the new Coco lineup. This strategic shift promises improved range, superior features, and Bajaj's renowned reliability. The introduction of the Coco brand is expected to enhance city mobility significantly.
