Automobili Lamborghini Unveils First Sustainability Report Highlighting Environmental And Social Commitments
Automobili Lamborghini has unveiled its inaugural Sustainability Report, marking a significant step in its commitment to a lower-emission future. This report, aligned with GRI and ESRS standards, outlines the company's dedication to sustainability while considering the needs of its employees and community. The launch of Lamborghini's first fully hybrid super sports car range is a key part of this strategy.
The report, created voluntarily, involved over 50 company representatives and 100 cross-functional sessions. It adheres to international GRI standards and the European ESRS framework, marking the start of ongoing sustainability reporting. Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman & CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, stated, "With this report, we aim to make visible what is already part of our daily way of working: the idea that innovation, performance and sustainability can coexist and mutually reinforce each other."
Lamborghini's environmental efforts focus on decarbonisation, circularity, and responsible resource management. The Sant’Agata Bolognese site has been carbon neutral since 2015. Investments in technologies like trigeneration and photovoltaic systems have supported this achievement even as the plant expanded. In 2024, self-generated energy rose by 22%, with some fed back into the grid.
The company's total emissions for 2024 were 851,132 t CO₂e across Scope 1, 2 (location-based), and Scope 3 categories. This reflects a proportionally lower growth compared to production and revenue increases. The Direzione Cor Tauri plan addresses emissions across the value chain from raw materials to logistics.
Lamborghini places people at the centre of its corporate vision by fostering well-being and inclusion. The company promotes an environment where everyone can learn and grow through active listening and tailored growth paths. A performance review system involves nearly all employees to encourage personal development.
Women's representation in managerial roles has increased significantly at Lamborghini. This shift demonstrates a commitment to creating inclusive spaces that celebrate individuality. Training on unconscious bias and inclusive language equips employees for meaningful cultural change.
Governance: Integrity and Accountability
A robust governance structure supports Lamborghini's sustainable strategy by guiding decisions responsibly with a long-term vision. In 2021, a cross-functional Sustainability Project Team was established to define, implement, and monitor initiatives across departments like R&D, Purchasing, Production, Sales, HR, and Communication.
This team integrates existing initiatives with new ideas for a sustainable business model addressing future challenges at all levels. Tools like the S-Rating system assess suppliers' alignment with company standards across the supply chain.
Sustainability Report as a Change Driver
The Sustainability Report serves as more than just documentation; it is a tool for accountability and direction. By taking this formal step forward in sustainability reporting without compromising identity or innovation spirit—Lamborghini reaffirms its commitment towards integrating sustainability into its industrial model.
