Tata Motors has brought back the Sierra SUV with an internal combustion engine (ICE) at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The new Tata Sierra combines nostalgic design elements with Tata's modern design approach, resulting in a contemporary SUV that pays homage to its roots.
Design & Styling
The Tata Sierra ICE takes cues from its 1990s predecessor, maintaining its iconic shape and large alpine windows. It now features modern styling elements seen in recent Tata SUVs like the Harrier and Safari. The front sports connected LED daytime running lights (DRLs) with main headlights integrated into the bumper. At the back, connected LED tail lamps add to its sleek look.
Interior & Features
Inside, the Tata Sierra boasts a triple-screen dashboard setup and a 4-spoke steering wheel illuminated with the Tata logo. Buyers can choose between 4 and 5-seat configurations. These updates reflect current trends while preserving Tata's unique style.
Advanced Features
The Sierra comes loaded with premium features such as three 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and a high-quality sound system. Safety is also a priority with six airbags expected as standard, along with a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Engine Options
Under the hood, two engine choices are anticipated for the Sierra ICE. A 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine delivers 170PS and 280Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Additionally, there is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 170PS and 350Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or torque converter automatic gearbox.
Pricing & Competition
The starting price for the Tata Sierra ICE is expected to be Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete against models like the Mahindra Scorpio-N and Hyundai Creta. The Sierra aims to attract those who appreciate retro styling combined with modern features.
