MG IM 5 Showcased At Auto Expo - A Rival For The BYD Seal?
British carmaker MG has showcased the iM 5 EV at Auto Expo 2025. The MG IM 5 is offered with three battery options the largest of which delivers a claimed range of 850km on a single charge. Officially the work of China's IM Motors, the electric sedan is being showcased at the Bharat Mobility GLobal Expo 2025 as part of MG's lineup as both brands are owned by China's SAIC Group.
This electric MG IM 5 sedan features stylish design and high-tech features, both inside and outside. It is equipped with LED headlights and taillights, aerodynamically sculpted body, flush door handles and a unique rear screen for displaying messages to other drivers on the road.

Inside, The MG IM 5, you'll find a yoke-style steering wheel and a trio of displaysalong with a glass roof that extends across the top of the cabin and dual smartphone wireless charging spots. Other highlights include sleek air vents, a 21-speaker sound system, and ambient lighting offering 256 color choices Dual-zone air conditioning, a power-operated tailgate, and electrically adjustable heated outside mirrors with memory and auto-tilting functions
The MG iM 5, comes outfitted with six airbags, a 360-degree camera system, and an array of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to ensure passengers' safety.

The MG IM 5 sports multiple electric drivetrain options, which include three battery sizes-75 kWh, 83 kWh, and 100 kWh-and choices between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The electric motors deliver power ranging from 216 PS to a combined 579PS in the dual-motor setup, with torque up to 800Nm, enabling the IM 5 to sprint from 0-100 kmph in just two seconds.
While MG has not yet confirmed the launch of the iM 5 EV in India, its arrival could significantly impact the Indian EV market. If it does come to India, the IM 5 is expected to be priced above Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), which would make it more premium offering than BYD's Seal.
