Hyundai Staria Showcased At Auto Expo 2025 - Eyeball Grabbing Seven Seater MPV
Hyundai has showcased the Staria luxury MPV at Auto Expo 2025. The premium MPV that has gained attention globally since its release in 2021. However, despite the buzz it created, Hyundai is not currently expected to launch the Staria in India, atleast in the near future, but is using the Bharat Mobility Global Expo to check the public interest in the Staria.
The version of the Staria displayed at the Bahrat Mobility Global Expo,is not the EV but instead features a conventional 3.5-litre V6 engine from the Kia Carnival, a vehicle it shares its underpinnings with. Designed to accommodate seven passengers in a layout that includes luxurious captain chairs in the second row.
Furthermore, the Staria’s interior is crafted to offer modern convenience and exceptional comfort. It features a vertically oriented central touchscreen that dominates the dashboard, complemented by accessible physical controls. The vehicle's interior design is marked by a standalone instrument cluster, a sleek four-spoke steering wheel, and a flat floor that amplifies its spaciousness, allowing for easy movement inside.
The standout feature inside is undoubtedly the second-row captain’s chairs, which are adjustable and ventilated, ensuring superior comfort for passengers. The third-row seating, configured as a bench, provides ample space for additional passengers.
The exterior design of the Staria is crafted to prioritize passenger comfort and enhance visibility. Over 5.2 metres in length, its design includes a low beltline and an extensive glasshouse that gives it a very unique look. The front fascia features a large mesh grille and pixel-style headlamps, the latter a staple of Hyundai's current design language. The Staria's sides are plain looking, like other MPVs, while the back is adorned with large vertical tail-lamps that continue the pixel theme from the front and a lrge rear windscreen.
Underpinning the Staria showcased on the Auto Expo floor is a robust 3.5-litre V6 engine, boasting an output of 272hp and 331Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.
Despite sharing a design with the Kia Carnival MPV, a model already familiar to Indian consumers, the Hyundai Staria stands out with its distinctive aesthetic and configuration that seats seven comfortably. This includes the luxury of second-row captain chairs, aiming to gauge the Indian market's response to such a feature-rich, large MPV.
The potential addition of the Staria to Hyundai's Indian offerings remains uncertain. However, the company's initiative to understand consumer interest and expand its electric vehicle lineup reflects a forward-thinking approach that may just bring the unique MPV to our roads somnedayh in the future.
