Auto Expo 2025: Ashok Leyland SAATHI Unveiled At Bharat Mobility Global Expo
Ashok Leyland, recognized as a frontrunner in India's commercial vehicle sector and part of the prestigious Hinduja Group, recently introduced Saathi at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo.
This premium entry-level Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) was launched by the Honourable Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, Shri HD Kumaraswamy, alongside Mr. Shenu Agarwal, MD & CEO of Ashok Leyland. Saathi is set to redefine standards in its category with its innovative features and advanced technology.
Saathi is designed to revolutionize the entry-level LCV segment with its advanced LNT technology, ensuring top-tier power (45 HP) and torque (110 Nm). Its 24% larger loading area eclipses that of its competitors, making it a game-changer in its class. The vehicle boasts a substantial payload capacity of 1120 kg, superior mileage, and larger tyres, translating to unmatched performance and efficiency.
Notably, the LNT technology employed in Saathi negates the need for AdBlue, simplifying operations significantly. Priced at ₹6,49,999/- for the FSD variant, Saathi combines affordability with a 5-year/2-lakh-km warranty and exceptional ride comfort, positioning it as an ideal Last-mile Urban Mobility vehicle.
Commercial Offerings from Ashok Leyland
At the same expo, Ashok Leyland showcased the GARUD 15, marking India's entry into premium, multi-axle, front-engine 15-meter buses. This vehicle, tailored for long-haul intercity travel across India's varied terrain, features the largest saloon space in its class with a capacity for 42 sleeper berths and a substantial luggage compartment.
Its Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) peaks at 22,500 kg, maximizing revenue per trip for operators. The GARUD 15 is equipped with an ergonomically designed adjustable driver seat and advanced features such as ADAS & DMS, ensuring a safe, comfortable journey for both passengers and drivers over long distances.
Another groundbreaking vehicle presented by Ashok Leyland is the country's first Electric Port Terminal Tractor, signalling a move towards electric solutions in freight operations. The eTIRAN Terminal Tractor, with a customizable battery range of 180-350 kilometres, is specifically designed for port applications.
It features an air-conditioned cabin optimized for 360-degree visibility and ease of access, and is equipped with advanced safety features including ADAS for safety alerts, and hill start assist. This vehicle represents a significant step towards sustainable solutions in port operations.
