Aurobay Technologies Receives 2025 Automotive News PACE Award For Innovative Hybrid Powertrain Technology
Aurobay Technologies, a part of Horse Powertrain, has been honoured with the 2025 Automotive News PACE Award for its innovative Hybrid Powertrain Technology. This technology was specifically developed for Leishen, a brand under the Geely Auto Group. The award-winning platform integrates Aurobay's 3DHT100 transmission and BHE15 engine into one compact unit.
The 3DHT100 transmission is notable for its exceptional torque density and fuel efficiency, making it ideal for vehicles in the A-D segments. It features a multi-gear dual electric motor system with an embedded planetary gearset structure. This design allows it to be the first full hybrid powertrain to incorporate a serial-parallel dual-electric motor.
The BHE15 engine is a 1.5-litre turbocharged system that excels in thermal efficiency among mass-produced hybrid engines. Utilising the Miller cycle, it enhances airflow, boosts kinetic energy by 44%, and increases combustion speed by 20%. These advancements contribute to its industry-leading performance.
The Automotive News PACE Awards are prestigious recognitions of innovation in automotive technology and engineering. Now celebrating its 30th year, the awards highlight groundbreaking products and processes that have reached commercial production. The judges praised Aurobay's system for its compact size, power, and efficiency.
Ruiping Wang, CEO at Aurobay Technologies, expressed gratitude for the award: "We are honored by the recognition of our Hybrid Powertrain Technology with an Automotive News PACE Award. Our team is pushing at the boundaries of the possible, and this integrated hybrid system developed for Leishen is a perfect example of our philosophy of developing world-class products for a global audience."
Commitment to Innovation
Matias Giannini, CEO at Horse Powertrain, emphasised their dedication to innovation: "As a problem solver to the OEMs, Horse Powertrain is always committed to delivering the very best innovation in combustion and hybrid technologies." He highlighted that despite many abandoning ICE and hybrid innovations, Horse Powertrain remains focused on these areas.
Horse Powertrain operates globally with two divisions: Aurobay Technologies and Horse Technologies. Headquartered in London, UK, it employs 19,000 people across 17 plants and five R&D centres. The company is owned by Renault Group (45%), Geely (45%), and Aramco (10%).
This recognition underscores Aurobay's leadership in hybrid technology development. Their innovative solutions continue to set new standards in power and efficiency within the automotive industry.
