Audi Q5 & Q5 Sportback Hybrid Versions Launched: Offers 100km EV Range & Much More!
Audi has unveiled new plug-in hybrid options for the Q5 SUV and Q5 Sportback, featuring a 25.9 kWh battery and electric motor. These models are set to enhance power and efficiency in the third-generation Q5 lineup. The mid-size SUV will be available globally with two plug-in hybrid powertrain choices, offering an electric-only range of up to 100 km.
Performance & Powertrain Details
Each plug-in hybrid variant is equipped with a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The more robust version delivers 362 bhp, accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.1 seconds. Meanwhile, the 295 bhp model completes the same sprint in 6.2 seconds. All versions boast a top speed of 250 kmph, featuring a dual-clutch transmission and Audi's quattro ultra all-wheel-drive system.

The introduction of these PHEV drivetrains follows their initial unveiling last year. Audi's new models will be available in Europe, reaching dealerships by the third quarter of 2025. Although there is anticipation for these powertrains to be included in the India-spec Q5, Audi has not yet confirmed any plans for an India launch.
Battery Capacity & Electric Range
A significant enhancement is seen in the high-voltage battery, now offering a gross capacity of 25.9 kWh (20.7 kWh net). This represents about a 45% increase over the previous model, allowing for an all-electric driving range of up to 100 kilometres (WLTP). Charging from empty to full using an 11 kW AC charger takes approximately 2.5 hours.
The Q5 PHEVs feature two drive modes: EV mode for pure electric driving and Hybrid mode for combined operation. Drivers can manually set a target battery charge level via a digital slider. Regenerative braking is adjustable across three levels using steering wheel paddles, with automatic energy recovery possible even without active navigation through stored route data.
Interior Features & Specifications
The 220 kW variants come with S sport suspension, three-zone automatic climate control, and Audi's MMI infotainment system with smartphone interface and app store access. Higher-spec models at 270 kW include LED lighting upgrades, S line interior with sports seats, red brake callipers, and fully adjustable rear bench seats for added practicality.
