Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Targets Glory At The 2025 Rolex 24 At Daytona
Aston Martin is set to make a significant impact at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, North America's renowned endurance race. The event marks the start of the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Daytona International Speedway. Four Vantage GT3 cars will compete for class dominance, with The Heart of Racing Team aiming for success in both GTD Pro and GTD categories.
The Heart of Racing [THOR] and Aston Martin are also preparing their new Valkyrie hypercar for its debut in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTP class at the 12 Hours of Sebring on 15 March. This follows its global race debut at the FIA World Endurance Championship Qatar 1812km opening round in Lusail.
The Vantage GT3, which shares its mechanical architecture with Aston Martin's luxury road car, is built around a bonded aluminium chassis and powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine. This model has shown world-class potential, having triumphed in last year's Spa 24 Hour race and achieving class wins across major global endurance series in its debut season in 2024.
Seattle-based THOR returns with one car each in GTD Pro and GTD classes, seeking victory in both categories. Roman De Angelis and Marco Sørensen will drive the #007 Vantage in GTD Pro, joined by Ross Gunn and Alex Riberas. Zacharie Robichon leads THOR’s #27 GTD entry alongside Tom Gamble, Casper Stevenson, and Mattia Drudi.
Magnus Racing, an Aston Martin partner team, aims to build on its second-place finish at Daytona in 2023. Regular drivers John Potter, Andy Lally, and Spencer Pumpelly are joined by Nicki Thiim for this year’s race. Meanwhile, van der Steur Racing makes its IMSA GTD debut with the #19 Vantage driven by Valentin Hasse Clot, Maxime Robin, Andrew McIntosh, and Rory van der Steur.
Van der Steur Racing will participate in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup rounds at Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Indianapolis, and Road America. The team had a successful year with the Vantage GT4 version in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge [IMPC] during 2024.
