Antonio Filosa Appointed As New Chief Executive Officer Of Stellantis Effective June 23, 2025
Antonio Filosa is set to become the new Chief Executive Officer of Stellantis N.V. on June 23, following a unanimous decision by the Board of Directors. The selection process involved both internal and external candidates, overseen by a Special Committee led by Executive Chairman John Elkann. An Extraordinary Shareholder Meeting will be convened soon to elect Filosa to the Board as an executive director.
Filosa's extensive experience in the automotive industry spans over 25 years, during which he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and success. His roles have included leading Stellantis operations in North and South America. As Chief Operating Officer for South America, he propelled the FIAT brand to market leadership and significantly expanded other brands like Peugeot and Jeep.
The Board granted Filosa CEO powers effective June 23 to ensure a smooth transition. His appointment is based on his comprehensive knowledge of the company and his proven leadership skills. "Antonio’s deep understanding of our Company, including its people who he views as our core strength, and of our industry equip him perfectly for the role," said John Elkann.
Filosa's recent promotion to Chief Operating Officer for the Americas in December 2024 saw him initiate significant changes in U.S. operations. These included reducing dealer inventory, reorganizing leadership, introducing new products, and enhancing communication with dealers and suppliers.
John Elkann will remain as Executive Chairman when Filosa assumes his new role. At that time, Filosa will also reveal Stellantis' new leadership team. Robert Peugeot, Vice Chairman of Stellantis, expressed confidence in Filosa's appointment: "His track record of successful leadership during his many years with our Company speaks for itself."
Nicolas Dufourcq, CEO of Banque Publique d’Investissement (Bpifrance), highlighted the significance of Filosa's appointment during a transformative period for the global automotive industry. "Antonio Filosa has the knowledge, the experience, and the talent to lead Stellantis to new successes," he stated.
