American Honda Achieves Sales Growth In June And Q2 2023 Driven By Electrified Models

American Honda Motor Co. Inc. reported a rise in sales for June, achieving 114,486 units, marking a 1.5% increase despite limited stock of some models. The second quarter saw an 8.4% boost with 387,574 units sold, maintaining a year-to-date growth of 7.1%. The Honda brand alone recorded June sales of 103,574 units, with quarterly and year-to-date increases.

Honda's light trucks set a record in the second quarter with an 11.8% rise in sales. Electrified models also saw significant growth at 39.5%. The CR-V nearly reached 30,000 units, marking its second-best Q2 performance ever. Meanwhile, HR-V and Pilot maintained strong sales despite inventory challenges.

The all-new Passport showed remarkable growth with a 66.1% year-to-date increase, averaging over 5,000 units monthly from April to June. Odyssey sales rose by 24.4% in Q2 due to strong June numbers of 9,542 units. Ridgeline achieved a record month in June with sales hitting 4,767 units.

The Acura brand reported June sales of 10,912 units, reflecting a year-to-date increase of 6.8% and an impressive Q2 growth of 11.2%. Acura SUVs had their best Q2 since 2021, driven by the ADX premium crossover's success and increased supply boosting sales.

The MDX and RDX models reached combined sales of 5,488 units in June despite inventory constraints due to retooling at the East Liberty Auto Plant. The all-electric ZDX achieved over 1,300 units in June for its best quarter since launch.

Electrified Sales Records

American Honda's electrified vehicle sales hit new records for June with 33,026 units sold and for the second quarter with 113,050 units sold year-to-date. This growth was led by hybrid versions of the CR-V, Accord, and Civic alongside the Prologue EV.

Lance Woelfer from American Honda noted that both Honda and Acura brands defied industry trends with rising sales in June and Q2: "Driven by the success of all-new products like the Honda Passport and Acura ADX... we continue to meet customer needs."

Product News

Honda led all brands on the Cars.com American-Made Index for 2025 with five models in the top twenty and three in the top ten positions. The introduction of the first-ever CR-V TrailSport Hybrid added rugged styling to this popular model.

Acura's Integra continues to lead as a gateway sedan with over 1,400 units sold in June while maintaining its high conquest rate among Acura vehicles. Integra along with RDX and MDX are exclusively built in Ohio and rank high on the American-Made Index.

The company's overall year-to-date total reached 739,151 units—a rise of 7.1%. Passenger cars accounted for 209,758 units (a decline of -8.1%), while trucks contributed significantly with an increase of +14.6%, totalling at 529,393 units.
