American Honda Achieves Sales Gains In January 2025 Despite Supply Challenges

American Honda reported a 3.8% increase in sales for January 2025, reaching 96,774 units. This growth occurred despite challenging winter weather affecting several markets. The company achieved record sales in light trucks and electrified models, overcoming supply chain issues from the temporary closure of two Ohio plants in December for EV production preparations.

The Honda brand saw a 4.1% rise in January sales, totalling 88,083 units. Demand was strong across the lineup, with electrified vehicles setting a new January record at 29,762 units. Hybrid models led this growth, with the CR-V and Accord hybrids making up 55% of their sales mix. Civic hybrid sales exceeded 34%, while Prologue sales surpassed 3,700 units.

In the light truck segment, Honda achieved record January sales of 62,245 units. The CR-V continued its success from 2024 by leading all Honda models with 27,280 units sold in January. Pilot sales increased by 15.1% year-over-year to reach 8,849 units, securing its top position in its segment with TrailSport models accounting for 18% of sales.

The Acura brand began the year positively with a slight increase in sales to 8,691 units, marking a 0.6% rise compared to last year. Acura SUV sales grew significantly by 17.9%, reaching 6,944 units despite plant retooling at East Liberty Auto Plant for EV Hub preparations affecting MDX and RDX production.

The RDX recorded January sales of 2,594 units while MDX sold 2,966 units. The all-electric ZDX maintained momentum from last year with over 1,300 units sold in January—its second-best month ever. Integra also performed well with January sales of 1,393 units despite plant retooling at Marysville Auto Plant.

Looking forward to springtime excitement surrounds the upcoming Acura ADX gateway SUV as its online configurator launched ahead of its on-sale date this season.
