Alex Palou Achieves Fourth Victory At Sonsio Grand Prix On Indianapolis Road Course
Alex Palou secured his fourth victory in five races at the Sonsio Grand Prix, held on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course. This win marks a significant achievement for Palou and Honda, as they continue to dominate the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Palou's consistent performance has extended his championship lead to 97 points, while Honda maintains a 93-point advantage over Chevrolet in the manufacturers' standings.
Palou's triumph at the Indy GP was his third consecutive win in this event, setting the stage for the upcoming Indianapolis 500. The #10 Chip Ganassi Racing driver is aiming for his third consecutive championship and fourth title in five years. His victories this season include wins at St. Petersburg, Thermal, Barber, and now the Indy GP.
Honda has made an impressive start to the season with five consecutive wins. Besides Palou's four victories, Kyle Kirkwood also contributed by winning the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach last month. This strong performance has given Honda a substantial lead in the manufacturers' title race against Chevrolet.
The Sonsio Grand Prix saw several Honda drivers finishing in top positions. Scott Dixon climbed from 16th to finish fifth, while Marcus Armstrong moved from 15th to seventh place. Kyle Kirkwood and Rinus VeeKay also made significant progress, finishing eighth and ninth respectively after starting from lower grid positions.
The final results of the Sonsio Grand Prix highlighted Honda's dominance. Graham Rahal finished sixth, Felix Rosenqvist secured tenth place, and other notable performances included Louis Foster-R in eleventh and Devlin DeFrancesco in seventeenth position. However, some drivers faced challenges with mechanical issues affecting their race outcomes.

Qualifying rounds will take place on May 17 and 18, leading up to "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" on May 25th. Teams are gearing up for this major event with high expectations following their strong start to the season.
Kelvin Fu of Honda Racing Corporation USA praised Honda's achievements: "What is there left be said? Five in a row for Honda is just an incredible start to the season." He acknowledged the hard work of both trackside teams and factory staff contributing to these results.
Scott Dixon shared insights into his race experience: "It was tough, for sure... Just being able to get the fuel mileage that we needed to—and Honda is always fantastic at that—created a bigger window for us." Despite challenges, he remained optimistic about future races.
The focus now shifts towards maintaining momentum as teams prepare for upcoming events. With strong performances so far this season, expectations are high as they approach one of motorsport's most iconic races—the Indianapolis 500.
