Alex Palou Achieves Sixth Victory In 2025 IndyCar Season, Honda Dominates With Ninth Win
Alex Palou has extended his lead in the championship standings with a victory at Road America, marking his sixth win in nine races this season. Driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, Palou's performance helped Honda maintain its perfect record in the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES, securing their ninth consecutive win. This triumph adds to Palou's earlier victories at St. Petersburg, The Thermal Club, Barber Motorsports Park, Indy GP, and the Indianapolis 500.
Felix Rosenqvist of Meyer Shank Racing secured second place, contributing to Honda's 1-2 finish at Road America. This podium finish is Rosenqvist's second since joining Meyer Shank Racing in 2024. Meanwhile, Kyle Kirkwood from Andretti Global finished fourth, maintaining his position as the only other driver besides Palou to have won this year. Kirkwood previously claimed victories at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach and Detroit Grand Prix.
Honda-powered cars dominated the top positions, with five out of six top finishers driving Honda vehicles. Marcus Armstrong and Kyffin Simpson also delivered strong performances for Meyer Shank Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing respectively, finishing fifth and sixth. Scott Dixon attempted to stretch his fuel but ended up ninth after a late pit stop.
The race saw Dale Coyne Racing's Rinus VeeKay secure tenth place while Louis Foster finished eleventh for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. All five Honda teams managed to place cars within the top eleven positions, showcasing their competitive edge this season.
Palou now leads the championship by 93 points over Kyle Kirkwood. In the manufacturers' championship, Honda holds a significant lead over Chevrolet with a score of 819 to 636 points. This gap highlights Honda's dominance throughout the season so far.
The next race will take place at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by the All-New 2026 Passport. This event is one of Honda’s home tracks and promises another exciting chapter in this year's series.

"Number one! Couldn't be happier," said Alex Palou after his win. "It's been a tough day with different strategies and yellows affecting us both positively and negatively." Felix Rosenqvist expressed satisfaction with his second-place finish: "That was great! Honda 1-2! We were on the right strategy in the end."
Kyle Kirkwood commented on his fourth-place result: "Honda 1-2 and five in the top six is a pretty good day. While I'm glad to see another Honda win, I'm less glad that it's another Palou win from a championship perspective."
