Acura MSR Achieves Strong Qualifying Results For IMSA 12 Hours Of Sebring Race
Tom Blomqvist secured a strong second-place start in his #60 Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian ARX-06 for the IMSA 12 Hours of Sebring. The qualifying session was briefly halted by a red flag, leaving drivers with limited time to set their laps. Blomqvist managed an impressive final lap, missing pole position by just 0.025 seconds.
Blomqvist will team up with Colin Braun and Scott Dixon in the #60 car, aiming for another victory for Acura at Sebring. Last year, Acura triumphed with drivers Jordan Taylor, Louis Deletraz, and Colton Herta. Meanwhile, Renger van der Zande will start sixth in the #93 Acura ARX-06 after encountering traffic during qualifying.
The mid-session pause affected van der Zande's ability to secure a better position. Despite this, he achieved the sixth-fastest time and will begin from the third row alongside co-drivers Nick Yelloly and Alex Palou. Van der Zande noted that while qualifying is crucial for setting a fast lap, the race's length allows for strategic opportunities.
Reflecting on his performance, Blomqvist expressed some frustration due to traffic issues following the red flag. "The car is good and feels fast! We just got ourselves in a difficult spot there with the traffic and our track position following the red flag," he said. Despite this setback, he remains optimistic about their chances in the long race ahead.
Van der Zande shared similar sentiments about the challenges faced during qualifying. "It’s a long race, but qualifying is always a good opportunity to go for a fast lap," he remarked. He acknowledged that timing issues prevented him from completing an additional lap but remains focused on learning from this experience.
