Acura Donates 75 ZDX Electric Vehicles To The Nature Conservancy For Environmental Conservation
Acura has donated 75 all-electric ZDX SUVs to The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to support conservation and clean energy goals. This initiative aims to help TNC transition to a cleaner, lower-emission fleet. Additionally, Acura's parent company, Honda, is contributing $1 million to enhance charging infrastructure and operations for these vehicles.
The collaboration between Honda and TNC spans over three decades, beginning with efforts to preserve the Big Darby Creek watershed in Ohio. Over the years, Honda has contributed more than $1 million towards protecting this vital ecosystem. In 2020, Honda also donated 90 acres of land in Ohio to aid in conservation efforts.
The donation of the ZDX SUVs is part of a broader commitment by Acura and Honda to support environmental sustainability. The vehicles will be distributed through Acura dealers across the U.S., assisting local TNC teams in their fieldwork and community engagement activities. This effort aligns with TNC's mission to reduce operational emissions while promoting conservation.
"We're proud to partner with The Nature Conservancy and Acura dealers across America to help advance sustainability by contributing to a lower-emissions future," said Mike Langel, assistant vice president of Acura National Sales. "The Acura ZDX fleet will support The Nature Conservancy's important fieldwork, enabling more efficient travel to conservation sites while reducing the environmental impact of transportation."
Honda's partnership with TNC began over 30 years ago with the Ohio chapter. Since then, Honda has supported various TNC programs across multiple states, including Alabama, California, and Indiana. In 2023 alone, Honda and the Honda USA Foundation contributed $625,000 towards TNC initiatives in 10 states.
"We are incredibly grateful to Acura for this donation," said Daniel Salzer, Director of Sustainability for The Nature Conservancy. "The donation of these vehicles has significantly accelerated our efforts to electrify our fleet, reducing our carbon footprint, and setting a powerful example of climate leadership."
Acura ZDX: A Step Towards Clean Energy
The all-electric Acura ZDX is notable for its performance and range capabilities. It boasts a 313-mile EPA range rating1, making it suitable for extensive fieldwork required by TNC teams. This model represents Acura's commitment to innovative engineering and sustainable automotive solutions.
Acura's lineup includes two sport sedans—Integra and TLX—and four sport-utility vehicles: ADX, RDX, MDX, and the all-electric ZDX. High-performance Type S variants further highlight Acura's Precision Crafted Performance ethos.
This initiative not only strengthens the bond between Honda and TNC but also underscores their shared vision for a sustainable future. By supporting clean energy transitions and conservation efforts, both organisations aim to make a significant impact on environmental preservation.
