AC Cobra GT Roadster Production Increases As First Edition 63 Cars Set For Delivery
The first AC Cobra GT Roadster models have rolled out from the production facility, marking a significant milestone for Britain's oldest vehicle manufacturer, AC Cars. This achievement follows over six years of dedicated work and investment. The company is now focusing on series production and delivery of this advanced sports car, which represents a new chapter in its long history dating back to 1901.
AC Cars has committed to a substantial multi-year investment to produce unique sports cars that are both aesthetically pleasing and practical. The AC Cobra GT Coupe joins the Roadster, offering a modern coupe profile while retaining the iconic design elements of the AC Cobra family. Inspired partly by the AC A98 coupe Le Mans race car from 1964, it aims to attract discerning buyers worldwide.
The AC Cobra GT Roadster features an innovative aluminium spaceframe chassis and a full carbon-fibre body. It is powered by a resonant 5.0-litre V8 engine, making it a true successor to the legendary 1960s model. This new version offers unmatched performance and exclusivity compared to previous iterations of the AC Cobra.
The first client deliveries will be the Edition 63 vehicles, celebrating the AC Cobra's class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1963. These cars are finished in a distinctive AC Blue colour combination and represent a new era for the iconic name. They are designed with modern safety features and available in both left and right-hand drive configurations.
Founded by the Weller Brothers in 1901, AC Cars is Britain's oldest vehicle manufacturer. Initially producing cars and motorbikes, they launched their first vehicle in 1903. The Autocarrier followed in 1904 as a successful three-wheel commercial delivery vehicle. The launch of the AC Ace in 1953 solidified their reputation with its aluminium body designed by Eric George Gray.
David Conza, CEO of AC Cars, expressed his pride: "This is a day to remember, and the completion of the first production AC Cobra GT Roadster’s is a monumental achievement. I’m immensely proud of what the company has achieved and the continued support and enthusiasm that our clients have shown."
Modern Design and Production
The new AC Cobra GT models reflect over five decades of design evolution. They feature modern ergonomics that accommodate drivers over six feet tall, along with advanced drivetrain and control technologies that enhance their grand tourer credentials. These limited-production vehicles offer an exceptional driving experience for clients worldwide.
With facilities in both the UK and Germany, AC Cars collaborates with leading industry suppliers for design, development, and construction. The introduction of the AC Cobra GT range signifies a new era for this historic brand as it expands its development and production capabilities across Europe.
The enduring appeal of the AC Cobra lies in its unmistakable shape and unique design. Each car is built to exacting standards for an exclusive clientele, ensuring its legacy continues with every new model produced.
