BMW North America Celebrates 50 Years With Special Livery For M Hybrid V8 At Sebring
The upcoming Twelve Hours of Sebring on 15th March marks a significant milestone for BMW North America, celebrating its 50th anniversary. This endurance race in Florida holds special importance as it was where BMW's journey in North America began in 1975 with the BMW 3.0 CSL's victory. To commemorate this, the BMW M Team RLL will feature a unique anniversary livery on their BMW M Hybrid V8s.
In 1975, BMW North America was established on 15th March, and shortly after, the BMW 3.0 CSL achieved a major sports car win at Sebring. This victory marked the first collaboration between BMW Motorsport GmbH and the newly formed BMW North America. Fifty years later, the special livery on the BMW M Hybrid V8s at Sebring honours this legacy by highlighting key achievements from 1975 to now.
Jochen Neerpasch, co-founder of BMW Motorsport GmbH, and Brian Redman, who won at Sebring in 1975, will attend the anniversary event. The special liveries will remain on the BMW M Hybrid V8s throughout the IWSC season. The Twelve Hours of Sebring is the second race of the 2025 IWSC season. At this event, BMW M Motorsport teams aim to continue their successful history.
At Daytona's season opener in January, BMW M Team RLL competed for an overall podium finish with their two BMW M Hybrid V8s in the GTP class. In the GTD-PRO class, Paul Miller Racing is among the favourites with two BMW M4 GT3 EVOs. Turner Motorsport is also targeting success in the GTD class with their BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
The race at Sebring begins on Saturday, 15th March at 10:10 local time (15:10 PM CET) and can be viewed live online. Andreas Roos, Head of BMW M Motorsport, expressed enthusiasm for the anniversary weekend: "Sebring and BMW M Motorsport share a very special bond. This track has played an outstanding role in our history in North America, which now spans half a century."
Roos added that they aim to add new milestones to those already displayed on their cars' liveries: "We have already shown at Daytona and at the FIA WEC season opener in Qatar that we have made another significant step forward with our LMDh car." He also noted that their new BMW M4 GT3 EVO has proven its potential for winning.
