2026 Suzuki Swift Sport To Come Equipped With A Hybrid Engine: More Power & Mileage

Suzuki is gearing up to launch the 4th-generation Swift Sport, anticipated in 2026. This new model will feature a significantly enhanced engine and a 48V mild hybrid system. The current 3rd-gen Swift Sport, with its 1.4-litre turbocharged inline-4 petrol engine, produces 140PS and 130 Nm. The upcoming version is expected to deliver around 150PS and 240Nm of torque.

Performance Enhancements

The electric motor in the hybrid setup will add an extra 15 PS and 59 Nm. Transmission options remain as a 6-speed manual or automatic. The car will continue with front-wheel drive. These upgrades promise improved performance over the existing model, making it more attractive to enthusiasts.

Dimensionally, the new 2026 Suzuki Swift Sport will measure 3,990 mm in length, 1,750 mm in width, and stand at a height of 1,500 mm. It will have a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. Despite these dimensions, it will weigh slightly less than its predecessor at approximately 960 kg. This reduction in weight combined with higher power output enhances the power-to-weight ratio.

Market Positioning

The price for the new Swift Sport is expected to range between 2.3 million to 2.5 million yen (approximately Rs 13.56 lakh to Rs 14.74 lakh). However, due to its higher price point, it is unlikely that this model will be introduced in India where sales volumes may not justify its launch.

In India, the standard Swift is priced between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.49 lakh. Maruti Suzuki has different plans for India focusing on electric vehicles (EVs). They aim to establish India as a key manufacturing hub for EVs targeting both domestic and international markets by FY2030.

Maruti's Electric Ambitions

Maruti Suzuki plans to become the leading brand in production, sales, and exports of EVs in India by launching four new electric models by FY2030. Their first EV for India will be the eVitara followed by Fronx EV which is likely to be their entry-level offering.

The remaining two models could include an electric version of Ertiga and possibly a mid-size electric SUV designed to compete with Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV9e.

Suzuki recently unveiled the Swift Sport ZC33S Final Edition based on the third-generation model set for sale from March to November of 2025. This indicates Suzuki's continued commitment towards evolving their Swift lineup while also exploring new avenues through electrification strategies.
